The Harvard Sentences are a collection of sample phrases that are used for testing audio circuits. Founded in 1940 at Harvard University as part of an initiative to reduce noise problems experienced by bomber pilots during the War, the Psychoacoustics Laboratory created the 720 phonetically balanced sentences in order to improve military communication systems during World War II.
